Audubon Mammal Print - Woodchuck (1845)
Our high resolution, museum quality, Giclee reproductions are printed exclusively on quality canvas using large format, state of the art printers. We have a great selection of reproduction prints from John James Audubon's The Viviparous Quadrupeds of North America. These images have undergone extensive processing to create vibrant and detailed prints. The images are cropped and formatted to completely fill the image space (rather than have a lot of blank paper around them). Not all Audubon prints are created equal. You will be impressed with the unmatched quality of these prints!
John James Audubon, perhaps the most famous of American ornithologists, is less well known for his wonderful work depicting the animals of North America. With the success of his Birds of America, Audubon was inspired to do the same sort of work on the animals, with the assistance of his son, John Woodhouse Audubon. This resulted in the publication of the folio edition of The Viviparous Quadrupeds of North America, illustrating 150 species. As with the work on ornithology, this volume was later issued in octavo size, making it accessible to the general public.
